The Connection Between Teething and Sleeping

There is quite often a connection between teething and sleeping, as when babies are going through the teething process they often get severely irritated and frustrated and thus tend to have difficulties sleeping. This teething and sleeping connection can make it an incredibly tough time, not only for the child but for the parents as well, as they have to sit by and watch their little one go through pain, and it can be incredibly difficult.

Teething and sleeping problems are common among babies during this time, and so you should prepare yourself for sleepless nights and restless days. When there is a teething baby in the house, everyone suffers, but there are remedies to help and so naturally, you will want to do all that you possibly can in order to alleviate the symptoms and bring peace back into the home.

Teething and Sleeping Problem Solutions

If your baby is suffering from teething and sleeping problems, one of the best things you can do for them is to create a calm and relaxed atmosphere, as too much noise and commotion is only going to make things worse and more unbearable for them. If you are able to keep your cool and do not allow yourself to succumb to impatience and frustration, then your baby is going to also feel much calmer.

Physical relief is another great option, and this includes purchased products such as teething rings, which are great for babies who have sore gums from teething. You can keep a couple of them in the refrigerator and then you always have one or more chilling and ready to go while the other is in use. You can give these to your baby to chew on whenever necessary, as they are completely safe, and they help greatly in the alleviating of pressure on the gums.

There are also various foods that can help your baby through the teething process and help them sleep better at night, one idea in particular being to wrap a cold peeled apple wedge in a clean washcloth and give it to your baby. Once they taste the sweetness of the apple they will want to continue biting down and sucking and this exercise will massage their sore and swollen gums, thus providing relief for their teething pain.

If nothing seems to be working then you do always have the option of medical remedies, although this should always be your very last resort. You also always want to make sure that your doctor okays anything before you go ahead with it, so that you will not be putting your baby in any danger.
